The printing press was invented in 1440. 523 years after the invention of the printing press in May 1963, Reginald Lindall received a patent for a "method of removing meat from bone" using "jetted" Carbon dioxide particles.
This man did not know that he had just invented a printing press cleaning process.
It took another 23 years to get the dry ice blasting equipment to the point that it could be used reliably for printing press cleaning purposes.
The first patents regarding development and design of modern-day single-hose dry ice blasting technology were awarded to David Moore of Cold Jet, LLC in 1986 & 1988.
Glacier Blast Inc. has no claim to fame in those early endeavors. Although, we can attest to the reliability of the Cold Jet dry ice blasting equipment. That is all we use.
Dry ice blasting is by far the best printing press cleaning method in the world. In the past it took many man hours of scrubbing with abrasive pads, rags and solvents to clean what dry ice blasting can do in mere minutes.
Printing press cleaning by dry ice blasting has no secondary waste stream. Imagine, no scrubbing, no employee exposure to harmful chemical solutions or solvents, no scrapers or scraping and absolutely no complaining from those who have to do the dirty work.
There are a couple of dry ice blasting video's below if you would like to see printing press cleaning in action.
