If your business is manufacturing plastic parts by roto mold technology, the molds eventually need to have the mold release buildup removed. The time used doing this can be quite extensive and costly. Especially if the mold is pulled out of production because it has wrecked 2 or 3 parts.
Heating the mold while producing the parts that were ruined is an expense. Removing the mold from the fixture takes time. The time out of production during a run is a real burden on your production schedule. To get back on track you might have to go into overtime.
Now add the man hours used in whatever method you cleaned the mold with. Next, add the time spent re polishing the areas that need to be polished after the cleaning process you used has partially or completely removed the polished surfaces.
Figure out your costs in soda, sand, glass bead, solvents, abrasive pads, scrapers etc. Now add up the cost of cleaning up your cleaning mess. Next, figure out the amount of time used getting the mold back in the fixture.
