A remodel job is in progress that you would like to have those old beams and planking in the ceiling exposed.  Not only would you like them exposed, you'd like them to look new.  The original part of the house was built in the early 1900's.  Over time the wood has darkened and there are stains from the old chinking.  Where lathe and plaster were removed, light and dark stripes are seen.  How in the world are you going to restore the wood to its original look?

Dry ice blasting is the most effective method of restoring old wood to a new wood look. Sand, soda, and water blasting are effective too, but, they each have their own secondary waste stream that needs to be contained and cleaned up after the wood restoration project is done.

Sand blasting leaves sand behind, which needs to be cleaned up and disposed of.

Water blasting or pressure washing of course leaves behind water that needs to be contained and disposed of.  If not properly removed and dried will cause unwanted corrosion, mold and wood rot.

Soda blasting, of course, leaves soda behind, which requires additional cleanup. Soda blasting is very time consuming to cleanup after.

Dry ice blasting has no secondary waste stream.  Think about that, no sand, soda or water to cleanup after the wood restoration project is completed.

How does the dry ice blasting process clean wood?  Similar to any abrasive blasting used for renewing wood, dry ice blasting is the use of small particles of solid CO2 (carbon dioxide) accelerated by compressed air to remove a very fine layer of the wood surface.  The intensity of the dry ice blasting while restoring wood is controlled by adjusting the air pressure and the volume of dry ice particles used.
